Guru Bhakthi

Dear All,

The concept of Guru being equal to or greater than God seems acceptable if

not for any reason other than the sitution that God is unfathomable. So till

one obtains the intuitive perception of God one can only seek a path of self

enquiry OR seek the help of a realised Guru.

But in this Yuga where one is confronted by a bewildering array of Gurus in

all colors and types of practises, it seems that the only true Guru is God

himself. However God is Non existent till realisation, a true completely

realised Guru is also in hiding and self enquiry by applying reason leads to

a dead end, so what is the solution?.Only each man's destiny.

Look at how some who have mastered some Kriyas, memorised the scriptures and

some slokas are posing as Gurus. While propogating and marketing their

information ( not knowledge).

Iam saying this not from a point of sarcasm. But from a first hand knowledge

a few practitioners. Take an example of a person who is now venerated

throughout India as the latest New Age Guru who presumably was blessed in

the Himalayas.Perhaps so. But the fact remains that he and me were initiated

in the same Kriyas,by the same Master about 3 decades back. While our Master

himself had faults and can be only classified as a YogaCharya,I still pay my

mental respects to him everyday while performing the Kriyas as if he is a

Guru.Take it as my whim and fancy. While to the best of my knowledge the Novo

Guru has not even mentioned the name of this Master giving an impression

that he has come like an Avatar from the Himalayas or even like Jesus who

appeared on the Mount.

No doubt he has done yeoman service to thousands by teaching the Kriyas that

promotes good physical and mental health while I have shared what was taught

only to a handful and so benefited far less.I am most certainly not a

Guru, but is he an Enlightened One?

We beings are subjected to the Law of Attraction in this world. We are

attracted by colors, forms, sounds etc. Most of the popular "Gurus" have

understood this and are able to attract the mass.Ok it's good for business.

The greatness of Krishna, Jesus, Buddha ,Ramkrishna, Vivekananda or any

other true Prophet of the previous eras is that their teachings have

intrinsic value and have stood the test of time. You can imagine Krishna as a

person of charming form or an ugly cowherd but his teachings are beyond

compare.Jesus can be picturised in attractive white robes or in Lungote but

his parables show his enlightenment. No one knows how prophet Muhammad looked

like yet millions follow the Koran.Buddha is classified as one of the most

handsome men that lived, yet he made himself skinny and simple.

Compare with today's famous "Gurus".Devoid of the form, hype and show is the

teaching reflecting any new insight? If so then there is something.Else it

is like another Bollywood show with more noise and colors in place of than

raga or tala. But this the play of the Law of Attraction

I submit this with offence to none and in a spirit of frankness.

> "Guru is God in human form, but who is, however, free from the triple functions of creation, preservation and destruction, which pertain only to the Almighty. If we have absolute faith in him, the Guru will shower us with all for which we go to God. In fact, God is needed only when we cannot find a Guru. Guru-Bhakti is even higher and more efficacious than devotion to the Lord.

> Sri Vedanta Desika has declared that he does not consider God higher than Guru. According to a verse, when God is angry, the guru protects you; when the guru himself is angry, there is no protector in the world. If we surrender ourselves absolutely without any reservation to the Guru, He will save us from all sorrow and show us the way to salvation. It is due to lack of Guru-Bhakti that the very devotion to God is waning in the hearts of men.
